After a week of heavy rain our senior team was the only team to play. However the game was moved to South Brighton Domain onto an artificial pitch.

Sumner won the toss and elected to bowl with the knowledge of potential late rain and uncertainty of what a good score would be. New recruit Paddy Sullivan on debut made an impressive start taking two early wickets with good pace and bounce. Dean Smith supported Paddy well to keep things tight early on. Jonny Percasky showed why he's called pistols pulling the trigger with a direct hit run out in the covers and New Brighton were in early trouble at 14-3. A couple of partnerships then formed mainly around the New Brighton skipper Matt Fielding (76) and David Cattermole(33). Dan Vann and Marcus Thompson both bowled tidy spells but the introduction of Jonny Percasky really tightened the screws with his 1-18 off 9 overs! Dean and Paddy came back to finish things off (Sullivan 3-20, Smith 2-41) and New Brighton ended their 45 overs with 158-8.

In reply, Sumner made a positive start with Tom Gooday and Christopher Wilson with an opening stand of 28 runs coming quickly. 3 quick wickets then fell to have Sumner 38-3. This brought captain Johnny Beveridge and debutant David Rees to the crease. The pair putting on a 60 run partnership before Rees was run out for 27. Beveridge continued to play shots and take the game away from New Brighton with Michael Newton-Vesty supporting. Beveridge then fell just before the final runs could be scored with an impressive almost run a ball 64.

Sumner eventually went on to win the game in 34 overs with 5 wickets in hand.
