We have a range of teams to cater from Year 1 children new to cricket, through to Year8

  • Kiwi Cricket (Year 1 & 2):12 Over Games start at 9.30 on Saturdays (with the odd game on a Friday at 5.30pm) and finish by 11.00 at the latest. Teams of 6 play on a 12m pitch using plastic Kiwi equipment and a yellow plastic ball. Innings of 12 overs for each team ensure each batting pair face 4 overs and each child bowls 2 overs. If a player is out (caught, bowled or runout) they keep batting but the fielding teams gets a bonus 3 runs. If a no ball or wide is bowled the batter gets to hit a ball off a tee.

  • 20:20 Softball (Year 3 & 4): 16 Over Games start at 9:00 on and should finish before 11.00. Teams of 8 play on a 14m grass pitch using wooden bats and wickets and a red 86gm Incrediball. Innings of 16 overs for each team ensure each batting pair face 4 overs (12 balls each) and each child bowls 2 overs. If a player is out (caught, bowled or runout) they keep batting but the fielding teams gets a bonus 3 runs. If a no ball or wide is bowled the batter gets to hit a ball off a tee.

  • Year 5 and Year 6 : Hardball or Super 8 softball option - 20 Over Games start at 9:00 on and should finish by 11.30. Teams of 8 play on a 16m pitch using full cricket gear including pads and helmets (compulsory). 20 overs for each team, each player bowls 2+ overs. In a major change for 2018/19 batters will bat in pairs for 5 overs so each batsman will face 15 balls. If they get out they rotate to the other end and the opposition will receive 3 bonus runs but importantly the batsman will stay in for their 15 balls. If a no ball or wide is bowled the batter gets to hit a ball off a tee (year 5 only). There is a “Max –Zone” in the “V” straight down the ground and runs scored count for double in this area. The Super 8 grade (year 5)uses a 142gm ‘plastic’ Incrediball which is the same weight but softer than a leather cricket ball. The hardball grades use a 142gm leather cricket ball.

  • Year 7: 30 Over Games start at 9:00 on and should finish by 12.15 at the latest. Teams of 9 play on a 18m pitch using full cricket gear including pads and helmets (compulsory). One innings of 30 overs for each team each player bowls 3+ overs. Batters are out (replaced) when they are out. A batter retires after facing 30 balls and can only return once all other batters are out. Last man standing rule applies. 6 ball minimum for all batters. LBW rules apply. 142gm leather cricket ball

  • Year 7 Premiers: 30 Over Games start at 12:30pm. Teams of 9 play on a 18m pitch using full cricket gear including pads and helmets (compulsory). One innings of 30 overs for each team each player bowls 3+ overs. 6 ball minimum for all batters. A batter retires after facing 30 balls and can only return once all other batters are out.
