SUMNER JUNIOR CRICKET - WHERE IT ALL BEGINS.
At Sumner Cricket our aim is to provide a fun and supportive environment for kids to learn and play the great game of cricket.
Participation is key and the game at the junior level is structured so as all kids have an equal opportunity to bat, bowl and field therefore staying active and engaged for the duration of the game.
Our club has experienced some fantastic growth in the junior game over the last 5 years. In the 2018/19 season we fielded 14 teams, up from 12 teams in 2015/16 and 9 the year before that. Included in the 14 teams last year was 1 Kiwi Cricket team, 6 T20/20 softball teams and 7 Hardball teams.
Parental support is very important to our club. We are very lucky with our volunteer coaches being parents from our community. The team environment is also a great chance for the supporters to meet and socialise with other parents from the community as the club draws children from Sumner School, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Redcliff’s School, Mount Pleasant School and beyond.
